“There are no individuals in the world only fragments of families.”

Family Therapy
We are more than the sum of our parts
Therapy is commonly depicted as an individual or couple’s task; however, family therapy is a therapeutic practice born out of the observation that while individual therapy is helpful in addressing the concerns in one individual; it doesn’t always help to address the single greatest factory in an individual’s life - their family environment.
Each family is like a fingerprint; with its own unique set of grooves, twists, and turns that serve as identifying characteristics. Family therapy addresses individual members in the context of their impact on the family as a whole. Family therapy works with each of the members with the goal of creating healthier dynamics in which blame, defensiveness, and finger-pointing turn into listening, holding space, and growth.
Sometimes an individual member of the family system is actually struggling with a serious concern. Much like when the trunk of a tree is impaired; that will inevitably affect the branches, leaves, flowers, and fruit. The family system is similar in that one member’s personal struggle will very often impact the family and its other members. Family therapy can help to alleviate the difficulties that the family is going through at any given time. Perhaps more than anything; family therapy underscores the family as the single most important unit by providing a special space and time for the health and well being of its members and the unit as a whole.
